Royals Remain Undefeated in Conference with Road Win Over UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – With another win on the road, the Queens University of Charlotte women's rugby team improves to 7-0 in the Mason-Dixon Conference. The Royals defeated the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Friday night, 20-14.

Queens was led by both Maddy d'Oliveira and Antares Lance who had two tries each recording the only points for the Royals in the match.

In a cold and rainy match, the Royals added a try to the board first from senior d'Oliveira who was followed by another try from Lance to make the score 10-0 on the Tar Heels early in the first half.

UNC-Chapel Hill would add a try and a conversion before halftime to bring the team within three on the Royals, 10-7.

Coming out into the second half, Lance would score her second try of the match, followed by d'Oliveira with another, making the score 20-7. Once again, UNC would score another try and conversion, but they weren't enough to take down the Royals, making the final score 20-14.

The squad travels to Clemson, S.C. next to take on Clemson University in another conference matchup. Play is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
