Postgame Interview with Head Coach Hannah Long and Logan Witt
WINGATE, N.C. – After receiving an at-large bid to the 2019 NCAA Women's Volleyball Southeast Regional last week, the second-seeded Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-16) loss to seventh-seeded Saints of Flagler College on Thursday afternoon inside Cuddy Arena on the campus of Wingate University.
Flagler (24-8) opened the match on a 5-2 run in the first set before Queens (24-7) quickly tied the score at 5-all. The Saints and Royals would see the score tied six more times down the stretch before Flagler tallied five of the set's last eight points to take an early match lead.
Queen held an early in lead in the second set, 9-8, following a kill from junior
Chanel Turner, but a 10-2 run by Flagler put the Saints ahead by seven, 18-11. The Royals closed the gap to a four-point margin, 24-20, before the Saints ended the set with one of their 10 team blocks.
In the third set, the Royals once again led early by a 7-5 score before the Saints rallied with four unanswered points to take a lead they would never relinquish. Flagler hit .243 in the match and collected seven service aces, while the Royals hit just .137 as a team.
