Jefferson City, Tenn. - The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team (13-5-1; 6-4 SAC) upset Carson-Newman (10-6-1; 7-2-1 SAC) in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament quarterfinals by a final score of 2-1.
Queens avenged its October 5th road loss to Carson-Newman with a marquee win in the conference tournament. The Royals capped off a strong first half showing with a goal from freshman defender
Keely Jackson 36 seconds before halftime. Third-seeded Carson-Newman dug itself a deeper hole with an own goal in the 67th minute gifting sixth-seeded Queens a two-score lead.
Carson-Newman rattled off 20 shots in the second half and connected in the 74th minute cutting the deficit to one score. Queens survived the remaining 15 minutes and advances to the South Atlantic Conference semifinals.
Queens is scheduled to face top-seeded Wingate on November 15th in Matthews, NC at 7 p.m.
