Newberry, SC - The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team (11-5-1; 5-4 SAC) rallied for two late goals in a road victory at Newberry (7-6-3; 3-6-1 SAC) winning by a final score of 2-0.
Despite an impressive 20 shot attempts in the first half, it took 77 minutes for Queens to reach the scoreboard with a goal from senior defender Taylor Hunkele. Queens insured its lead eleven minutes later with a score from freshman forward Nia Gaither securing a 2-0 lead.Â
Gaither's 88th minute goal was her 11th of the season leading the team. Queens dominated the box score in both shots categories and controlled the pace of the game. Freshman goalkeeper Erica Turner's five saves notched her sixth shutout of the season.Â
Queens returns to action Wednesday, November 6th at home vs Anderson at 5 p.m. for its regular season finale.Â
