Gaither Records Hat Trick in 6-0 Win over Coker

Charlotte, NC - The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team (9-5-1; 3-4 SAC) surpassed last season's win total defeating Coker University in a South Atlantic Conference duel by a final score of 6-0. Queens' six goal performance sets its season-high while pitching its fifth shutout of the season.

After a sluggish start, the Royals broke free of Coker totaling three goals in an 11-minute span. Freshman forward Nia Gaither scored in the 24th and 27th minutes on similar plays where she broke free from the Cobras' defensive backline. Junior forward Emma Rose Stockton knocked in the third goal of the night marking her fourth consecutive game with a goal. 

Queens held Coker scoreless with just two shots on goal and added to its lead late in the second half with another flurry of three goals in an 11-minute span. Freshman midfielders Logan Farrelly and Karen Juarez scored in the 77th and 79th minutes and Gaither completed the final goal of her hat trick in the 88th minute. Gaither leads the team with nine goals this season.

Queens returns to action next Saturday, October 26th celebrating Senior Day at home vs Mars Hill at 12 p.m.
