Royals Wrap Up Kutztown Duals vs. No. 16 Golden Bears

FULL RESULTS

KUTZTOWN, Pa. –
Wrestling in its final dual of the four scheduled for the weekend, the Queens University of Charlotte men's wrestling team wrapped up the Kutztown Duals on Saturday against the host school, No. 16 Kutztown, from O'Pake Fieldhouse in Kutztown, Pa. The Golden Bears got the best of the Royals, as they went on to secure a 47-3 win.

Devinaire Hayes led Queens and picked up the three points it earned on the day. Wrestling in the 141-pound weight class, Hayes defeated Kutztown's Jake Jones via a 10-5 decision.

Kutztown won 12 automatic points due to wins by forfeit in the 133-pound and 174-pound weight classes. The Golden Bears picked up another six points in the 184-pound weight class because of an injury defeat, as the Royals' standout Noah Curreri was forced to exit the match early against the nation's top-ranked wrestler in the weight class, Jeff Reimel, at the 1:21 mark.

Coming into the weekend ranked 16th in Division II, the Golden Bears blew past No. 10 UNC Pembroke on Friday night by a score of 34-1 before entering Saturday's competition against the Royals.

Next up, Queens will return home to the Levine Center for a dual with Emmanuel College (Ga.) in Charlotte. Competition is slated to begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22 and will be the Royals' second time this season facing off against a fellow South Atlantic Conference Carolinas opponent.
