HARROGATE, TENN. – The sixth-seeded Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team was eliminated from postseason play following a 3-0 (27-25, 25-13, 25-16) loss to third-seeded Lincoln Memorial University on Tuesday night in a South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Championship Quarterfinal matchup.
Lincoln Memorial (19-8) advances in the tournament after hitting .333 as a team and totaling seven blocks at the net, while Queens (14-15) ends its season unable to defend its 2017 SAC Volleyball Championship Title.
Queens opened the first set of action with an 8-4 lead and extended its advantage to 15-9 on a
Jordan Proszenyak service ace to force a Lincoln Memorial timeout.
The Railsplitters exited the break and managed to eventually tie the set at 18-all before a 4-0 run put the Royals back in front. However, Lincoln Memorial cut back into the lead and ended the frame with three unanswered points to take the early match lead.
Lincoln Memorial controlled both the second and third sets of play, winning each by 12 and nine points, respectively.
Proszenyak led the team with nine kills and 16 digs, while sophomore
Logan Witt had nine kills of her own from the middle. Fellow sophomore
Chanel Turner followed with seven kills and 13 digs as junior setter
Mallory Swarts totaled 30 assists and six digs.
