CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Competing in its first home meet of the 2018-19 season, the Queens University of Charlotte men's wrestling team faced off against the Apprentice School on Tuesday from the Levine Center.
Despite four members of the Royals picking up individual wins, one more than the Apprentice School in matches featuring both opponents, the Apprentice School managed to edge Queens by a score of 27-18.
Micah Marcin,
Christopher Cohens,
Austin Watkins and
Noah Curreri all took home individual wins and picked up points for the Royals.
Cohens led the way for Queens as he picked up a team-high six points by beating the Apprentice School's Tyler Allen by fall in the 157-class. Cohens, a freshman, is coming off a Quarterfinal appearance on Sunday in the Wolfpack Open.
Junior
Micah Marcin tallied the first three points for Queens with a 15-8 decision over Tyler Allen, while
Austin Watkins beat Dan Henson by major decision, 18-9, to pick up another four points.
Curreri, who made it to the Championship round and finished second in the 197-class at the Wolfpack Open, earned five points for the Royals with a 22-6 technical fall win over Gilbert Owens.
The Royals will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 2 with the Newberry College Duals. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. from Newberry, S.C.
