Highlights

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
No. 4 Queens University of Charlotte defeated Tusculum College this evening by a score of 92-57 to complete the home-and-home series sweep over the Pioneers. The Royals improve to 18-1 on the year and 10-1 in South Atlantic Conference play with the win, while the Pioneers drop to 5-13 on the season and 3-8 in the league.
 
Jalin Alexander and Shaun Willett totaled 15 points each to lead the Royals this evening. Mike Davis and Lewis Diankulu were right behind the pair with 14 points apiece. Ike Aguis and Daniel Carr added seven points each while Todd Withers led under the glass with 11 boards and three blocks.
 
After scoring the first bucket of the game eight seconds into play, the Royals never trailed in tonight's game. They would use a 15-0 run to build a 28-11 lead at 7:47. Queens' lead then swelled to as much as 26 points before the Royals took a 52-30 advantage into the break. Davis finished the half with 13 points while Diankulu totaled 10 points.
 
The Royals continued their dominant play on both ends of the court into the second half of action holding the Pioneers to just 15-percent shooting. In the meantime, Queens' lead grew to 37 points on three different occasions before the Royals eventually walked away with the 35-point victory.
 
Queens' defense held Pioneers leading scorer Donovan Donaldson scoreless in tonight's game as Tusculum shot just 31-percent from the floor. The Royals also dominated on the boards totaling 53 rebounds to Tusculum's 28 rebounds.
 
Elon Smallwood led the Pioneers with 18 points while Ronnie Baylark totaled 15 points.
 
Queens will be on the road at Catawba College on Wednesday, Jan. 24 for the second game of the season in the home-and-home series with the Indians. Queens took the first meeting by a score of 83-65. Agusi and Josh Van Weezep led the Royals with 12 points each. Davis added 11 points and Alexander scored 10 points. Withers led in rebounds with seven to go along with his four points, two assists, three blocks. Queens leads the series, 12-4, and tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
