WINGATE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team fell on the road to Wingate University by the score of 86-79 this evening. The loss is the second of the season for the Royals who rank No. 2 in the DII Media Poll and No. 6 in the NABC Poll. Queens now sits at 21-2 on the year and 15-2 in South Atlantic Conference play, while the Bulldogs improve to 15-8 on the season and 12-5 in the league.

Senior forward
Daniel Camps led the Royals with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while
Ike Agusi added 16 points. Camps also led under the glass with eight rebounds.
Todd Withers finished with 13 points and seven rebounds, and
Mike Davis totaled 11 points.

Tonight's game was a tight one, featuring 17 lead changes and 10 ties. Queens' final lead of the night came at 6:04 when a jumper in the paint from freshman guard
Daniel Carr gave the Royals a 70-69 lead. The Bulldogs' Josh Dominguez had an answer on the very next possession, knocking down a three-pointer that put Wingate back on top, 72-70. The Bulldogs never relinquished control again in the remaining minutes of play, extending their lead to seven before the final horn sounded.

The Royals shot 40-percent from the floor this evening compared to Wingate's 54.5-percent clip. Additionally, the Bulldogs edged Queens under the glass, 39-36. However, Queens would score 18 second chance points to Wingate's 11. Additionally, the Royals totaled 40 points in the paint.

Queens found themselves trailing the Bulldogs, 43-39, at the half after going back and forth with Wingate for the opening 20 minutes of action. A 13-5 run early in the period put Queens ahead 21-14 with 12:44 to play, but Wingate would respond with a 9-2 spurt that equalized the game at 23-23 by the under 12 media timeout. A 10-2 run by the Bulldogs later helped them move ahead, 40-32, with just under five minutes to play in the half. The eight point lead would be their largest of the game. Queens would use a 7-3 push just before the break to trail by four heading into the locker room.

Dominguez led Wingate with 22 points. Mike Baez added 21 points and nine rebounds, while Isiah Cureton totaled 17 points and nine rebounds. Zeriq Lolar chipped in with 16 points.

Queens will travel to face Mars Hill University on Saturday, February 11. The Royals defeated the Lions, 85-57, back in December and will be looking to complete the series sweep. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
