SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team fell, 3-2, to Converse College (5-11) tonight in its final game of the season. The Royals fell in overtime to split the home-and-home series with the Valkyries this season. Queens completes their 2017 campaign with a 6-11 record.

Converse grabbed the first goal of the night in the 11
th minute when Sarah Healy found Marina Montes-Nino inside the box and she snuck a shot into the lower right corner of the cage. Montes-Nino then struck again in the 32
nd minute when she received a pass from Flore Samsi and beat the Royals' goalkeeper,
Miranda Childers. Converse would take the 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

In the 61
st minute, Queens got on the board when
Mazvita Mtisi grabbed a rebound and found the back of the cage to make the score 2-1. Two minutes later, in the 63
rd minute, Hannah Nechay tied the game at 2-2. The knotted score then held through the rest of regulation forcing an overtime period.

Montes-Nino would go on to score her third goal of the night and the final goal of the game in the 74
th minute to win the game for Converse.

Miranda Childers accumulated seven saves for the Royals tonight. Queens edged the Valkyries in shots, 16-14, putting 11 shots on goal. Nechay and Mtisi led the attack with two shots on goal apiece.
