No. 3 Queens Remains Undefeated

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team currently sits undefeated at 16-0 after defeating Tusculum College on the road this evening, 83-79, in South Atlantic Conference play. The win moves the Royals, ranked third in the nation, to 10-0 in league play. The Pioneers fall to 7-8 on the season and 4-6 in the SAC.

Mike Davis led the Royals after scoring 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting. He was also just one rebound shy of a double-double after totaling nine to go along with his three steals, two assists and one block. Daniel Camps added 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Jalin Alexander followed with 14 points. Camps also recorded six rebounds. Todd Withers totaled nine points and five rebounds, and Ike Agusi added six points, three rebounds and eight assists.

Both the Royals and the Pioneers saw their offenses click in the first half of play as both teams shot well over 50-percent from the floor. The period would see 10 lead changes and nine ties before Tusculum took a 50-48 lead in to the break. Kendall Patterson knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game at 43-43 before forcing a turnover and scoring a fastbreak layup to put his team ahead with 2:03 to play in the half.

The Two teams would mirror each other out of the break as well. However, this time both struggled to get the ball through the hoop as the Royals shot 34.3-perecent from the floor compared to Tusculum's 30-percent clip. With the Royals trailing, 54-53, Camps scored a layup to put Queens on top for good with 17:33 to play. His bucket sparked an 8-0 spurt that put the Royals ahead 61-54 around the 15 minute mark. Camps scored six points during the run.

A 12-0 run by the Royals capped by a pair of threes from Davis soon followed, giving Queens is largest lead of the night, 74-60, with 8:40 to play. Tusculum made one final push in the closing minutes of action cutting the Royals' lead to three, but time was on Queens' side as they walked away with the four-point victory.

Patterson led Tusculum with 24 points, while Cory Fagan added 23 points.

The Royals will be at home on Wednesday, January 18 as they welcome Wingate University to Curry Arena.
