CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team won their second consecutive home game this evening, defeating Lees-McRae College 3-0 on Dickson Field. The win helps the Royals even their record at 2-2, while the Bobcats drop to 1-4 on the season.
 
Queens controlled play today outshooting the Bobcats 31-9, putting 12 shots on goal. Lees-McRae totaled two shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Quest recorded her second straight shutout win after totaling two saves.  
 
At the half, Queens held a 1-0 lead on a goal from freshman midfielder Thea Mallett. Mallet would receive a pass from sophomore Alana Jefferson, heading the ball from inside the box past Lees-McRae's keeper for the score.
 
Mallett then put the Royals ahead 2-0 in the second half after a bad clearance by the Bobcats allowed her to fire the ball into an empty net. Mallet finished play today with five shots, all being on frame.
 
In the 69^th minute, sophomore forward Charlotte ring would send a through ball up the left side of the field to Jefferson who found the back of the net for a 3-0 advantage.
 
Queens will open South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday at Tusculum College. The two teams last met in the quarterfinal round of the 2015 SAC Championships with the Royals coming out on top, 4-0. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
