#15 Royals Strong Second Half Leads Them To Win Over Anderson

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C – The #15 Queens University of Charlotte Men's Basketball team (18-2, 12-2 SAC) used a second half offensive outburst to defeat the Anderson Trojans (5-15, 3-11 SAC) 76-65 on Monday, February 1, 2016.
 
The Royals shot 43.9 percent the game and were 13-of-27 from the field in the second half. Queens took advantage of 24 second chance points and 23 points off of turnovers in the win.
 
Marquis Ranked scored a career-high 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Daniel Camps had a monster game as he scored 17 points and added 19 rebounds to give him a double double. Todd Withers and Rob Lewis each scored at least ten points for Queens in the game.
 
The teams were deadlocked at eight points with five minutes played in the game as Camps made one of two free throws. Anderson then broke through and went on a 10-0 scoring run to take an 18-8 lead as Tony Dargan made a three pointer with 12:20 left in the first half. Queens worked to cut down the Trojan lead to only four points, 24-20, as Withers stole the ball and dunked it home with just over six minutes to go in the first half. Anderson's Alex Davis hit two free throws to make the score 30-23 in favor of the visiting team, but both teams would go into the half tied at 33 as Camps out jumped everyone and for a put back dunk.
 
Queens jumped out to a six-point lead in the second half as Lewis hit a jumper with 14:21 on the clock. Anderson clawed its way back into the lead as Tre' Fields was fouled while shooting a three pointer and hit two of three free throws to give them a 49-48 lead with just over twelve minutes to play in the game. Both teams went back and forth with the lead as both teams were tied up at 55 each with just under nine minutes to play in the game. Queens would then turn the lights on and go on a 9-2 run to take a 64-57 lead as Daryl White tipped the ball into the hoop with 5:35 to play in the game. With just under two minutes to play in the game Jared Hendryx took a lob pass into the paint and slammed it home to give the Royals a ten point, 72-62 lead. Queens would hold on from there as they won 76-65 over the visiting Trojans.
 
Anderson was led by Tre' Fields' 15 points on 3-of-13 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 shooting from the free throw line. Maurice Howard and Lex Davis added 13 and 14 points for the Trojans.
 
The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday, February 3rd, as they play host to the Coker Cobras with tip-off slated for 8:00 p.m.
