ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team traveled to Molloy College today, falling 3-1 to the Lions. The loss brings their record to 8-7 on the year, while Molloy improves to 2-12.
Despite Queens outshooting the Lions 28-9 and putting 21 shots on goal, the Royals struggled to find the back of the net in today's game. Queens' lone goal would come from
Lauren Wolfgang in the 47
th minute on an assist from
Kayleigh Lawrence. The goal knotted the game at 1-1.
The Lions answered with a go ahead goal in the 49
th from Tara Byrnes, and their insurance goal scored by Jessic Waszcak followed in the 67
th.
Mazvita Mtisi led Queens with 10 shots, putting six on goal.
Meghan Smiga added six shots and Lawrence totaled three shots. Goalkeeper
Miranda Childers finished the day with four saves.
Molloy goalkeeper Arianna Ovadia recorded 19 saves.
The Royals will close their inaugural season tomorrow at Saint Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, N.Y. The game is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
