CHARLOTTE, N.C. –The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team returned the favor this afternoon to Newberry College, defeating the Wolves 6-0 at Dickson Field. The Wolves had defeated Queens 3-2 in double overtime early in month. Queens now sits at 6-5 on the year, while Newberry falls to 5-8.

Maha Clarke got the Royals going this afternoon with a goal in the seventh minute. Clarke picked up a deflection and fired it into the back of the net to score what would be today's game winner.
Mazvita Mtisi quickly followed with another in the ninth after she and
Hanna Nechay broke away from the Wolves' defense to go two on one with Newberry's goalkeeper. The final goal of the first half would come from
Lauren Wolfgang in the 14
th minute, and the 3-0 score stood until the halftime break.

In the second half, Wolfgang found the back of the net again when she collected a pass from Mtisi following a penalty corner and bounced the ball in the cage. Queens' final two goals of the game would come from the stick of
Renee Smith. Her first came in the 53
rd minute on an assist from
Kayleigh Lawrence, while her second came in the 66
th on an assist from Mtisi.

The Royals outshot Newberry 18-11, putting 13 shots on goal this afternoon. Goalkeeper
Miranda Childers grabbed her third shutout of the season after totaling six saves.

Queens will travel to face Belmont Abbey on October, 25 at 4 p.m. The Royals defeated the Crusaders 1-0 at home early in the season.
