Box Score 2 Milledgeville, Ga. – The Queens University of Charlotte Softball Program suffered a pair of losses on Saturday, January 30, 2016, to No. 9 Georgia College. Completing the full seven innings, the Royals fell 4-0 in the first meeting. The Bobcats continued this momentum into the second game clinching the double-header series with 8-0 win.
The Bobcats took the lead early in game one with a sacrifice fly out to right field from Faith Flanders resulting in a RBI and the first run of the game. Lacey Najafi followed up with a single to the left side of the field, the Bobcats then bunted resulting in an RBI scoring Caroline Snider and advancing Faith Flanders to second base. The Royals had two hits throughout the game but were unable to score. The game concluded with singles by Taylor Campbell and Faith Flanders to left field scoring two final runs for the Bobcats in the fifth inning.
At the start of game two, Georgia College's Taylor Campbell hit a home run to left center field scoring two runs at the bottom of the second inning. Bobcats' Hannah Coursey then singled to the pitcher resulting in an RBI and scoring Kristen Brooks. Taylor Campbell homered again in the third inning for a three run RBI scoring Abi LeRoy and Baylee Hall. The Royals had three hits throughout the game but were unable to score once again. The game ended in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly by Abi LeRoy and a single up the middle by Faith Flanders. The combination of hits scored three runners concluding the game with an 8-0 win for the Bobcats.
The Royals placed three pitchers on the mound throughout the double-header series.
Catelyn Presley took the loss in game one giving up four runs, eight hits, and two walks.
Lyndey McCurry took the loss in game two giving up eight runs, ten hits, and one walk. She had the lone strikeout of the series for the Royals.
Evie Scott closed both games totaling 2.1 innings pitched.
Georgia College's Marisa Boyette pitched the full seven innings for game one of the series for the Bobcats. She gave up two hits, two walks, and totaled eight strikeouts. Carly Lewis and Brooke Taylor partnered up for game two. Lewis totaled four innings pitched while Taylor closed the game for the final inning. Combined the two gave up three hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.
Queens is set to play again tomorrow, Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 12pm and 2pm in Milledgeville, Ga. for a double-header series against Young Harris College.
