Box Score Charlotte, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team extended their streak to four games after topping the Coker College Cobras on Friday, November 6, 2015. The Royals took the match with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-16 score to move to a 12-13 overall record and push to 10-9 in the South Atlantic Conference. Coker College would fall to a 4-21 overall record and drop to 1-18 in the SAC.
An early 8-2 run forced a Cobras' timeout as Queens established their play early. Coker made a small climb after the timeout, cutting the lead to 11-7 but a 9-1 run by Queens put the Royals ahead by 12 points and the set out of reach.
Coker stayed close throughout the second set, tying the game at 12-12 after going on a 3-0 run to burn a Queens' timeout. Queens managed to gain a small margin but was never able to pull fully away, as the Cobras stayed just a step off.
Taylor Henry, however, would seal the game forcing one to the Coker side to move the Royals to a two set lead.
Despite the Royals holding the lead, Coker was just a few points shy until a kill by
Elizabeth Bialkowski sent the team on a 5-0 run to bring the game to 15-8. The team continued to build their lead with
Katie Schoenrock brining the game to match point at 24-15. A service error by Rachel Waters would give Queens the match.
Meredith Jones led the team with 13 kills as
Jessica Raines followed with nine. Raines and Bialkowski led the team in blocks as both took part in four stops.
Megan Mancini tallied 16 digs while
Sydney Kunz led the team in assists with 20.
Coker was led by Regan Kennen who found eight kills for the night. Alexis Berles had back-to-back services aces to top the team for the stat line. Madison Bingle added 11 digs for the Cobras.
Queens will be back in action on Tuesday, November 10
th for the last regular season home match. The Royals will face Wingate at 7 p.m. inside of Curry Arena at the Levine Center.
