Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team defeated Tusculum College (9-8-2) this evening by a score of 4-0 to advance to the South Atlantic Conference Championships Semifinals for the first time in program history. Since joining the SAC in 2013, the Royals had not made it past the quarterfinal round until tonight's win over the Pioneers. Queens now sits at 11-5-2 on the year.
 
Queens picked up their second win of the year over the Pioneers putting a pair of shots in the back of the net in the first half. Two goals in the second half would insure their victory.
 
Senior midfielder Logan Vitale was hot in the first half scoring the game-winner in the 31^st minute, and following with another goal in the 33^rd. Her first goal would come when the midfielder chested the ball to herself off of a throw in from junior midfielder Kathy Fisher. She then fired the ball into the net for the 1-0 score. Vitale then scored her second goal from inside the box after receiving a pass from junior defender Ashley Osiecki.
 
In the second half, a foul inside the box would allow freshman forward Charlotte Ring to score her 11^th goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 58^th minute. Queens then saw their final goal of the night come from the boot of junior midfielder Caitlyn Rodrigues. Following a near corner throw in, Osiecki would send the ball into the box where Rodrigues took a touch before shooting the ball into the back of the net for the 4-0 final score.
 
Queens outshot the Pioneers 21-8 this evening, putting 12 shots on goal. Tori Danchak of Queens recorded her eighth shutout of the season, while Miriah Martin of Tusculum recorded eight saves.
 
The Royals will take on second seeded Wingate on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, N.C. Wingate defeated Newberry, 1-0, to advance to the semifinal round.
