Box Score Hartsville, S.C. –In a tough road loss, the Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team fell to Coker College going 20-25, 25-17, 28-26, 25-13. The match on Friday, October 2, 2015, dropped the Royals to a 4-8 overall record, 3-5 in conference, while giving Coker their first conference win for a 1-7 South Atlantic Conference record and a 3-9 record overall.

The two teams sat close throughout the first set with Queens taking their first comfortable lead at 16-11. The Cobras would come within two points but no closer as Jessica Raines found a kill and a block, respectively, to close the set.

A quick build in the second set proved to be too much for Queens as they were unable to come back from 12-4 early Coker lead. However, the third set saw 10 tying points as both teams fought for position. Although the Royals battled late into the set, Coker took a 3-0 run to cap the game.  

The Cobras claimed victory off a six point run in the fourth set to end the game with a 25-13 score. Prior to that run, the Royals held an 8-4 lead threatening to push the match into a deciding set. The Cobras would rally to take their win.

Raines and Rebecca Cochran topped the team in kills as both found 12 in the match. Meredith Jones took 11 kills for the next highest on the team. Annika Jones would secure four aces and 17 assists in the match while Megan Mancini led the team in digs with 26 for a season high.

Madison Bingle topped the Cobras for kills tallying 10 during the night. She would add 12 digs to fall just behind Missy Reid (13 digs) for the stat line. Toni Hammer helped to cause problems for the Royals as she took part in nine of the team's 13 blocks.

The Royals head to Wingate tomorrow to face the Bulldogs at 12 p.m.
