Royals win on the road at Tusculum

Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team picked up a 79-74 win over Tusculum College (3-17, 2-12 SAC) improving their South Atlantic Conference record to 7-7 this season. The Royals' overall record currently sits at 9-9.
 
Senior guard Jarrett Stokes continued his stellar season today scoring 26 points in the win to lead Queens. Sophomore guard Joby Glymph added 22 points, while senior wing David Mason chipped in with 10 points. Freshman forward Logan Evans recorded nine points and seven rebounds. Mason also totaled seven rebounds.
 
Queens was able to jump out to a seven-point lead in the opening four minutes of action, holding the narrow advantage until the midway point of the half when the Pioneers scored seven straight points to cut the Royals' lead to one, 18-17. A three-pointer on their next possession would increase the run to 10 and give Tusculum a 20-18 lead with 10:20 on the clock. Three ties and two lead changes would follow with the Pioneers holding out to take a 39-34 lead into the locker room.
 
The Royals shot a perfect 14-14 from the foul line in the half.
 
Following a bucket from Tusculum's Darius Carter at the start of the second, Queens would score eight points in a row to reclaim the lead not even three minutes into play. The Pioneer s would tie the game up once more at the foul line, but a bucket from Glymph at 17:28 would give the Royals the lead for good. They would see their largest lead at 7:06 following three points the old-fashioned way from Glymph.
 
Tusculum would make things interesting down the stretch getting hot from behind the three-point arc, but the Royals held off the comeback attempt to leave Tusculum with the home-and-home series sweep.
 
The Royals outscored the Pioneers 44-28 in the paint, while also winning the battle under the glass, 35-31.
 
Jalen Walker led Tusculum with 21 points, while Carter finished with 17 points.
 
The Royals are on the road on Wednesday, February 5 at Catawba College. Tip-off is at 8 p.m.
