Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Royals put three unanswered goals in the back of the net tonight to defeat Catawba College, 3-0, at Dickson Field. Following the win, the Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team now sits at 5-6-1 on the year and 3-2-1 in South Atlantic Conference play, while the Indians fall to 7-4 on the year and 3-3 in the SAC.
Queens' offense came alive in the second half of action tonight following a first half of evenly matched play that saw zero goals.
Things looked matched in the second half as well until Queens'
Brenna Kate Grass booted the ball past Catawba's keeper in the 65
th minute of play to score the game-winner.
Sydney Michelin was the passer on the play sending a low cross into the box from the right side of the field.
The Royals then took advantage of a free kick in the 78
th, scoring off of a set piece to go ahead 2-0.
Julianna Tucker was able to get her foot on the back of the ball crossed into the box by
Jill Clark, shooting it into the net for her second goal of the season.
The final goal of the night came from
Mary Stringini in the 87
th. After winning a corner, Queens'
Ashley Osiecki stepped up to service the ball. Catawba would clear the ball right back out to Osiecki, who sent it back into the box. Stringini met the cross with her head, sending the ball into the back left corner of the net.
The Royals and Indians each took nine shots on the night.
Tori Danchak finished in goal with three saves.
Queens is back at home against Lincoln Memorial on Saturday at 5 p.m.
