CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Trailing by two, 59-57, the Royals' Brandon Nichols (Fayetteville, N.C., Jack Britt) took a three-pointer from the top of the key that fell through the net giving Queens University of Charlotte a 60-59 lead with 1:19 to play. Nichols' bucket would be the last of the game as Queens University of Charlotte (12-10) improved their league record to 9-7. Erskine College (14-8) dropped to 9-8 in Conference Carolinas play.
After falling behind 13 points, 49-36, following a three-pointer from Erskine's Jake Haslam, the Royals put together a 15-0 run to take a two-point lead at 5:16. Both teams would trade baskets over the next four minutes before Nichols' huge bucket proved to be the game-winner.
