Softball drops two in Florence

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FLORENCE, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte softball team completed play in the Francis Marion Tournament today with losses against No. 8 Armstrong Atlantic State University and Fairmont State University. 

In the early game against Armstrong Atlantic the Royals were able to take the nationally ranked team to the last inning before losing on a walk-off single. Keeya Turner (Fayetteville, N.C., 71st ) and Whitney Britt (Gibson, N.C., Scotland) each scored two of the team's six runs, and Amanda Meade (Bristow, Va., Osbourn Park) led the way with six RBIs.

The Royals were unable to match their offensive production of their first game when they matched against Fairmont State. They fell by a score of 7-0, and were outhit 8-3 by Fairmont State. The Royals concluded the tournament with a 1-3 record, and stand at 9-16 on the year.

Queens returns to action Monday as they host Armstrong Atlantic State at 2 p.m.
