Women's golf seventh in Lady Moc Classic

Camilla Mallberg takes 18th spot individually.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-  The Queens University of Charlotte women's golf team held on for a seventh place finish today in round three of the Lady Moc Classic hosted by Florida Southern in Lakeland, Fla. Wet and windy conditions proved to be an obstacle faced by all of the golfers as not a single player finished under par. Nova Southeastern University, the number one team in the country, took home a first place finish with a total score of 916, while number three Rollins was second (933). The host school who is ranked fourth in the nation shot a 940 for third place.

The Royals shot a 352 on day three giving them a total score of 1022 to clinch seventh. Camilla Mallberg (Stockholm, Sweden, Danderyds Gymnasium) led Queens placing in the top twenty individually at 18 after shooting a 241 in the three round tournament. Julia Wennerlund (Bjarred, Sweden, Polhemskolan) had the best day three performance for the Royals improving her day two score by six strokes for an 81. Wennerlund finished tied in 29th place with a total score of 248.

Taking home first place honors individually was Sandra Changkija of Nova Southeastern with a score of 219. Joanne Coe of Rollins and Marianne Andersson of Florida Southern tied for second shooting a 228.

The Royals are set to play in the Pfeiffer University Dana Rader Intercollegiate Invitational on March 7th here in Charlotte.
