Volleyball loses to conference rival Belmont Abbey

The Royals fell 3-1.

BELMONT, N.C.- The Quens University of Charlotte Royals lost to conference rival Belmont Abbey College tonight 3-1 at  Wheeler Center in Belmont, N.C. With the loss the Queens falls to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference while the Crusaders improve to 1-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The Royals came out ready to play putting the Crusaders on their heels in the first game winning 25-17. After the win in thier first game, the Belmont Abbey volleyball team came out more aggressive and won three-straight . Game scores were 17-25, 25-23, 25-19 and 25-10. 

Queens struggled the last three games of the match finishing with a .000 total attack (30 kills, 30 errors on 113 total attacks) as Keri Kemp (Lake Mary, Fla., Lake Mary) and Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley )each led the Royals with eight. Erinn Moore (Longwood, Fla., Lake Mary) handed out 23 assists. Libero Avery Griggs (Hendersonville, N.C., Hendersonville) posted ten digs.

Belmont Abbey hit .122 for the match (46 kills, 30 errors on 131 total attacks) including a torrid .407 clip (13 kills, two errors and 27 total attacks) in the match-clinching fourth game when it led by as much as 20-5, while limiting Queens to a -160 attack (four kills, eight errors on 25 total attacks).

The Royals are back in action tomorrow night against Mars Hill College in their first home game of the season at 6:30 p.m.
