CHARLOTTE, NC – Queens University of Charlotte's volleyball team fought the visiting Lees-McRae to the end Wednesday night. Despite several key injuries, the Royals kept each game close, losing by four, six, and three respectively.
Queens gained a spark from
Alison Williams (Rougemont, N.C., Northern Durham), who tallied five kills in six attacks to hit .667 in her two games played.
Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley ) led the Royals with seven kills and seven digs while assisting on three blocks. Providing protection upfront was
Tanisha Lea (Efland, N.C., Orange Senior ) with one solo block and five block assists.
The Bobcats responded to each Queens' rally with a spark of their own, accumulating seven service aces. Three of the aces came from Taylor Clendenin, who also led all scorers with 12 kills. Luana Rocha and Trisha Reese guarded the perimeter for the Bobcats, adding game-highs in digs with17 and 10.
The loss drops the Royals to 1-6 (5-12) in Conference Carolinas, while the Lees-McRae improves to 6-1(11-4).
The Royals continue conference play this Friday and Saturday when they travel to Barton and Mount Olive.
