HILTON HEAD, S.C.- Freshmen Camilla Mallberg (Stockholm, Sweden, Danderyds Gymnasium) and Natalie Mirra (Boxford, Mass., Heritage Academy) led the Royals to a ninth place finish in the first women's golf tournament of the spring season. Mallber tied for 25th and Mirra tied for 27th, respectively, in the Newberry Invitational at the Moss Creek Golf Course in Hilton Head, S.C.
As a team Queen posted a 36-hole score of 704, just two stokes out of the eighth spot, at the par-72, 5,853-yard course.
Mallberg shot an 88 on the second day, three strokes more than her first round. Mirra also added three strokes to her second round, 86-89, 175.
The overall tournament champions were the Lady Falcons of Pfeiffer University. Led by senior Brittany Beltran's 157 (77-80, +13) in a blustery cold and windy tournament, Pfeiffer was the only school to have every single individual round under a 90 stroke total.
