CHARLOTTE, NC – The Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team couldn't build off a strong first game Tuesday night, as they fell to Conference Carolinas foe Belmont Abbey in four sets.
The loss brings the Royals to 2-11 (6-19 overall) in the conference, while the Crusaders improve to 5-8 (5-15 overall).
The Royals were lead by
Tanisha Lea (Efland, N.C., Orange Senior ), who led Queens with 11 kills and three blocks (two solo, one assist).
Erinn Moore (Longwood, Fla., Lake Mary) directed the offense with 26 assists. The Royals guarded the perimeter with the trio of
Katherine Bagley (Hammondsport, N.Y., H.P. Central ),
Alison Williams (Rougemont, N.C., Northern Durham), and
Sarah Malpass (Gainesville, Fla., Gainesville) who each tallied 13+ digs.
The Crusaders blocked their way to victory with 16 total blocks (four solo, 12 assists). Leading Belmont Abbey with a game-high 6 blocks (two solo, four assists) and 40 assists was Kay Schellenburg. The Crusaders used a balanced attack to defeat the Royals, as four players tallied 8+ kills.
The Royals return to action at Ovens arena Friday October 30 against Converse at 6:30p.m.
