Crusaders Sneak Past Volleyball 3-2

Queens faces Limestone on Oct. 1

BELMONT, N.C-  Queens University of Charlotte volleyball fell to Conference Carolinas rival Belmont Abbey College this evening by a score of 3-2.  Set scores were 12-25, 25-22, 14-25, 25-21, 13-15. The Crusaders improve to 5-9 overall and 4-3 in Conference Carolinas, while the Royals slip to 3-13 overall and 3-6 in Conference Carolinas.

Queens was led by Keatin McKenzie 's(Coral Springs, Fla., Cardinal Gibbons )11 kills, while Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley ) and Veronica Arenander (Cincinnati, Ohio, Walnut Hill )  both finished with ten. Amanda Valbert (Champaign, Ill., Champaign Central )handed out 33 assists and 15 digs. Defensively, the Royals were led by Valbert's 15 digs, while McKenzie logged 14. Alyssa Pariselli (Alpharetta, Ga., St. Pius X)finished with 13 and Katherine Bagley (Hammondsport, N.Y., H.P. Central )had ten.

Belmont Abbey was led by  Emily Frohnapfel with 14 kills and Leanne Cassandra with 12. Rebekah Weber handed out 28 assists to go along with four kills, while Molly Gwaltney added 17 assists and nine digs. Megan Watts had four service aces.

The Royals will travel to Gaffney, S.C. to face Limestone College on Oct. 1 at 6:30pm.
