Queens University of Charlotte volleyball falls to Pfeiffer University tonight at Ovens Athletics Center 3-1 in Conference Carolinas action. The loss drops the Royals to 2-11 overall and 2-5 in league play. The falcons improve to 4-1 in conference play and 9-2 overall.
The Royals came back from an 11-25 loss in the first set to down the Falcons 25-23 in the second.
In set three, Queens held the lead for most of the match until the Falcons went on a six point run to take the lead 24-22. Queens was able side out to side out and earn a point back. The teams rallied for two points until the Falcons took the game at 24-26.
Pfeiffer did not look back in set four and defeated the Royals 18-25.
The Royals were led by Keatin McKenzie (Coral Springs, Fla., Cardinal Gibbons )with 13 kills. Natalie Weiner (Greensboro, N.C., Page ) put up great numbers in the loss both offensively and defensively hitting .400 (7 kills, 1 error, 16 attempts). As a team, Queens struggled offensively hitting .110 on the night. Defensively, they had one of the best performances of the year with 106 digs.
Pfieffer's Petra Ljubicic had 15 kills. Brittany Dickens blocked one solo and assisted in four.
The Royals host Barton 6:30pm on Friday, Sept. 26.
