SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Royals defeated Converse College Tuesday night in Spartanburg, S.C., 3-1. Queens won set one, 25-21, two, 25-23, and four, 25-17. Converse won set three 23-25.
The Royals stepped on to the court at Converse on a mission. They won the first two sets though the Valkyries put up a fight keeping it close. Converse attempted to steal the momentum from the Royals in the third set, but the Royals put hopes of a comeback out of their heads winning the fourth set by eight.
Leading the offensive end was
Keatin McKenzie (Coral Springs, Fla., Cardinal Gibbons ) with 12 kills on 26 swings.
Veronica Arenander (Cincinnati, Ohio, Walnut Hill ) was right behind her with 11 kills on 32 total attacks.
Tamalea Pierce (Asheboro, N.C., SW Randolph ) led the defensive end with 20 digs on the night.
Amanda Valbert (Champaign, Ill., Champaign Central )and Arenander were right there with Pierce getting 18 digs a piece.
The Royals will host Saint Andrews Presbyterian College for senior night on Thursday night at 6:30pm.
