Shonice Pettaway has been selected as the December InterCon Student-Athlete of the Month after helping the Royals knock off Johnson C. Smith University, a team receiving votes on the national poll.

Pettaway averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds during the month in the three games played by the women's basketball team. She recorded double-doubles in both of the Royals' losses to Livingstone for the month. In the first meeting, she scored 25 points and snatched down 11 rebounds, while in the second she had 20 and 18. In Queens' upset victory over the Golden Bulls, Pettaway turned in 12 points and seven rebounds. 

Shonice is a winner in the classroom and on the court," commented Coach Cheryl Nix. "She has been on the Presidential Honor Roll and currently holds a cumulative 3.0 GPA. She has always led by example honoring the game with her effort while maturing into a more vocal leader on the court. Shonice is well respected by her teammates and coaches as she is dedicated to being the best she can be and pushing her teammates to do the same."
