Following a very successful opening month of competition, Anthony Raftis of the men's cross country team has earned September InterCon Student-Athlete of the Month honors.
 
Raftis, a senior all-American runner, led the Royals to a pair of top-five finishes during the month. He opened the season pacing the men's cross country squad to a second-place finish after taking second place overall in 24:11.9 at the Cal State San Marcos Cougar Challenge. Raftis then led Queens finishing the men's 8k at the Capital Cross Challenge in 16th place in 24:30.7. Queens took fourth place at the meet which featured a number of other top 20 teams. Following both performances, Raftis was named SAC AstroTurf Runner of the Week honors. Currently the Royals are ranked first in the region and 16^th in the nation.
