Leah Brackett joined the Royals as the assistant athletic director for club sports and wellness in July of 2022 after spending 16 years at the University of Maine at Farmington as the assistant director for competitive sports, operations, and summer camps.
Brackett was an integral component of the success of the UMF fitness and recreation programs for over a decade. She increased efficiency through implementing new software programs and increased the satisfaction ratings of the intramural programs by improving the student experience across the board. She also developed a student leadership program helping her staff of student employees graduate with transferable management skills. Additionally, Brackett fostered relationships with many organizations and businesses in the community helping to grow the UMF footprint through camp scholarship opportunities and events such as street races.
Prior to joining the staff at UMF, Brackett worked with the Boys and Girls Club/YMCA in Waterville, Maine, leading a large children's program, and with the City of Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Department managing youth, teen, and senior programs along with the operations of several facilities and parks.
Brackett attended Keene State College on a basketball scholarship before transferring to the University of Vermont, School of Natural Resources ahead of her junior season. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in outdoor recreation management.
