Mitchell comes to the Royals from Ithaca College where he received his bachelor’s degree in sports management in 2014.
As a player, Mitchell played for Ithaca from 2012-2014 under the leadership of Head Coach Jim Mullins. He concluded his career on the school’s all-time scoring and rebounding top-10 list with 1,298 points and 591 rebounds after helping lead the team to the NCAA Tournament twice, advancing to the round of 16 in 2013. He also helped Ithaca capture back-to-back Empire 8 Conference Championships and was the MVP of the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament. Additionally, Mitchell was recognized on the Empire 8 All-Conference Team for three consecutive years.
While still a student, Mitchell got started on his path to becoming a collegiate coach with an internship with the Cornell Men’s Basketball team from January 2014-May 2014.
Mitchell began his collegiate career at Rutgers University, where he played one season before transferring in 2012.
