Softball Summer Camp

      Melanie Helterbran joined the Queens staff in the summer of 2011.

Helterbran served as the assistant coach at Kean University while working towards her masters of      public administration. While in the role, Cougars won two New Jersey Athletic Conference             Championships and advanced to the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament. In addition to coaching she designed and organized the team weightlifting and conditioning programs, ran team study hall and helped with summer recruiting and fundraising.

As a three-year player at Elon, she was a designated player who pitched. Helterbran was named Second Team All-Conference (Southern Conference) in 2008, was twice the Player of the Week and once Pitcher of the Week. For single season records she is in the top-10 for homeruns, nine (2007), and 13th for innings pitches, 142.2 (2007). In her 96 game career, she ranks ninth for strikeouts, 232, eighth in K’s per seven innings, 4.19, fifth for innings pitched, 409.0, 10th for wins with 30 and is eighth for slugging percentage, .453.

Coach Helterbran and her staff will utilize all of their playing and coaching experience to aid in the development of all campers skills.
