CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte Department of Athletics is set to announce its annual department award winners across its multiple social media channels during the summer months, honoring the accomplishments of its student-athletes during the 2025-26 season.
The department awards will be released every Tuesday and Thursday. Today, we recognize the winners of the Best Plays of the Year Award.
Best Plays of the Year Award
Men's Play - BJ Brown, Baseball
BJ Brown earned the honor with a dramatic walk-off three-run home run against Jacksonville that capped a stunning ninth-inning comeback. Trailing 3-1 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Queens put the tying run on base before Brown stepped to the plate. Down to his final strike, the redshirt freshman connected on a hanging slider and launched it over the right-field fence, turning a two-run deficit into a 4-3 Royals victory. The clutch blast remains one of the most memorable moments of the 2026 season.
Women's Play - Kayleen Favreau, Women's Lacrosse
Kayleen Favreau earned the Women's Best Play of the Year Award with a record-breaking goal against Austin Peay that made her the all-time leading scorer in Queens women's lacrosse history. Early in the second quarter, Favreau collected a ground ball near midfield following a Governors turnover and raced up the field before finding the back of the net for her third goal of the day. The score marked the 195th goal of her career, surpassing Kyleigh Masteran's previous program record of 194. Favreau finished the afternoon with three goals and five assists as the Royals rolled to a 19-4 victory.
