THE SHORT STORY:
Queens women's tennis hosted former conference foe Wingate on Wednesday afternoon, falling 7-0. The Royals pushed deep into tiebreaks on the top two courts, but the Bulldogs claimed straight-set wins across the board to secure the dual match victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wingate clinched the doubles point with 6-1 wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Queens' No. 2 team of Sofia Benhaddouch and Rachel Byrne trailed 2-3 when play was halted.
- Zoe Cvitanovic battled into a third-set tiebreak at No. 1 singles after taking the opening set, but came up just short in a 6-4, 6-7, 0-1 loss.
- Mathilde Bris also extended her match to a second-set tiebreak at No. 2 before falling 7-5, 7-6 (4).
- Wingate completed the sweep with straight-set wins on courts three through six.
