CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer opened the season with a 2-0 loss to the University of South Carolina Upstate on Thursday night. The Spartans outshot the Royals 15-5 in the battle at home.

Turning Point
Less than a minute into the second half Dara Russo would find the back of the net off an assist from Nya Baccelli to break the scoreless battle. Russo proved to be the Achilles heel for the Royals by doubling back and scoring an unassisted goal in the 81st minute to seal the game.

• Kelsey Jargstorf recorded 3 saves on the day in her debut in goal. 
• Lindsay Durham came off the bench and recorded one of the 2 shots on goals by the Royals, the other came from Sophia Muetterties. 
• Four Royals, including Kelsey Jargstorf, Savannah Stuart, Mikaela Rossi and Ansleigh Prell, all turned in a complete game.
