CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team is set to kick off their second season in Division 1 on Thursday night when they welcome Wofford College to Dickson Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN Plus. Fans can secure their tickets in advance by visiting the Queens Athletics

The match in Charlotte will be the second all-time meeting between the Royals and Terriers. The last time the programs faced off was September 3, 1994, and the Royals emerged victorious 2-0.
Queens is opening the season for the second straight year in the Queen City after being picked to finish ninth in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll. The Royals are coming off a 3-8-5 inaugural Division 1 season which included a 3-3-1 finish to the regular season. The Royals return 18 players from last year's squad and welcomed 12 newcomers.
The Royals return a significant piece in goal with fifth-year
Erica Turner back in net. The fan-voted ASUN Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year sits second all-time in wins and third in career saves. Last season, Turner posted six clean sheets and ranked second in the ASUN in total saves during the regular season.
Hilda Svensson,
Grace Sain, and
Savannah Stuart return to the backline after turning in six shutouts last season. Svensson started all 16 matches scoring her first career goal and dishing out an assist while Stuart finished sixth on the team in total minutes.
On the attack,
Maddy Leone and
Sophia Muetterties are veterans who will look to make a playmaking impact. Last year, Muetterties netted goals in back-to-back games finishing second on the team in goals scored. Queens will look to replace their leading goal scorer from a season-ago
Nia Gaither.
Following the match on Thursday night, the Royals will begin a four-game road stretch beginning at Western Carolina University on Sunday, August 20
th.
