THE SHORT STORY:Â The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team dropped a Thursday afternoon league battle at Bellarmine by a score of 5-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights managed to capture the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3.
Edoardo Cecere and
Win Steveker trailed 6-5 from the top court before going unfinished. Despite the loss at No. 2,
Edoardo Bottino and
Laurenz Blickwede battled hard before falling 7-5.
-In singles action, Bottino would secure the top court victory 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-2. The win improved Bottino's record to 7-5 this season, and 4-3 from the top slot.
-After dropping the first set 3-6 at No. 2, senior
Edoardo Cecere battled back to grab the second and third sets 6-1, 7-6(3) to give the Royals their second victory of the season.
-Sophomore
Win Steveker had his six-match winning streak snapped at No. 3 as he fell 3-6, 6-4, 2-6.
NEXT UP
With two regular season matches remaining, Queens will head to the sunshine state next weekend for a pair of matches. The Royals will face Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday, April 6
th at 5:00 p.m. before taking on Stetson on Saturday, April 8
th at 2:00 p.m.
