Queens Earns First Home Win of the Season on Senior Day

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
 The Queens University of Charlotte wrestling team earned its first home win of the season this afternoon defeating Allen University, 31-9
 
How it Happened
  • Queens won seven matches on the day, earning five straight to pull ahead of the Yellowjackets in the dual.
  • Seniors Melvin Rubio and Jay Skalecki walked off the mat at home for the last time winners as Rubio earned a tech fall win and Skalecki won by major decision.
  • Nico D'Amico (149) and Toure Moore (157) each secured three points for the Royals with their wins.
  • Vladimir Sukhikh (165) and Joshua Voelkel (HWT) each pinned their opponents for wins.
  • The seniors were recognized ahead of the dual for their outstanding careers as Royals.

"I'm so happy for the boys, especially our seniors, it's nice to see the improvements they've made come to fruition," head coach Rob Tate stated. "It's been a tough year for everyone, but this group is special; one of the more resilient groups of people I've ever been around."
