CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team picked up their sixth draw of the season with a 0-0 final score against North Florida on Thursday night. The sixth draw marked a program record for ties in a single season and it also leads the country.
Turning Point
Despite being outshot 14-6, the Royals backline played a significant role in the shutout clearing Ospreys scoring opportunities. Queens tightly contested the Ospreys shots resulting in five landing on target which were smothered by
Erica Turner.
Key Stats & Notes
- Veteran goalkeeper Erica Turner was perfect between the pipes turning in her seventh clean sheet of the season. The Dublin, Ireland native recorded five saves while facing 14 shots.
- Sophomore Connie Dutton ripped a career-high and team-best four shots, including two on goal.
- Chelsea DeVettori and Maddy Leone added a shot.
- The backline consisting of Hilda Svensson, Grace Sain, and Annika Wilker recorded their seventh shutout of the year across 90 minutes of work.
- Freshman Laney Newnam turned in her second straight 90-minute performance.
- The draw was the second straight between the two ASUN foes.
