Royals Repeat as Team Overall and Men’s Team Champions at USA Triathlon Collegiate Club Nationals

RESULTS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following today's Olympic distance race at the USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships, the Royals were crowned the Team Overall Champion for the second straight time. Additionally, the men repeated as national champions.

"Five Queens men among the top 10 overall in a race of over 978 collegians," Queens Head Triathlon Coach Sonni Dyer stated. "The guys had a dominant showing today despite some challenges out of the course. They always seem to have each other's backs. I am also very proud of the way that our long course non-draft women fought hard."

While Queens' men topped the podium defeating Colorado, Cal, Colorado State, and Navy, the Queens women would take third place behind Cal and Colorado.

Jorge Alarcon led the men finishing second overall today in a time of 1:46:28.99 while Alec Mundt took third in 1:48:59.31. Tristen Jones continued his stellar weekend of racing taking seventh in 1:49:52.91 and Austin Podhajsky was eighth in 1:49:54.28. Milan Tomin also returned from his races yesterday to secure a 10th-place finish in a time of 1:50:22.08.

For the women, Fatima Alanis led taking fourth place in a time of 2:07:34.16. Emma Teneza clocked a time of 2:15:12.69 for 20th in the women's race while Jordan Grantz was 22nd after crossing the finish line in 2:15:39.20. Reilly Schindler took 28th in 2:17:04.06 and Paola Horvat was 36th in 2:19:45.47.

"Earning program titles No. 9 and 10 with this group, it's been a year none of us will ever forget," Dyer added.

Yesterday, the Royals earned a pair of national titles as Franca Henseleit won the women's draft-legal race and the Royals won the mixed team relay.
