Royals Record National Marks in Final Regular Season Meet

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C./CLEVELAND, Tenn.- The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track and field teams competed in their final meets of the season before the NCAA DII Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for May 27-29. Competing at both the Mount Olive First Chance and Multi and the Lee University Last Chance, the Royals recorded a combined three Division II automatic qualifying marks and eight provisional marks.
 
In the heptathlon at Mount Olive, every Royal who participated recorded a personal best point total. Elise Ulseth led the way recording 5,584 points. Her automatic national qualifying mark moves the multi athlete into first place in the nation and sets a new school record. Malene Kollberg took second place with 4,717 points and Melanie Welsing finished third with 4,683 points. Both marks were provisional marks. Additionally, Cerys Lee (4,169 points), Lucy Walliker (3,732 points), and Zoe Wagstaff (3,373 points) finished sixth, 10th, and 13th, respectively.
 
In the decathlon, Stefan Jungmichel finished third with 7,038 points to set a new school record while NIklas Keli was fifth with 6,478 points. Both marks were provisional. Harris Helberg and Tommy Bobbitt also competed taking 13th and 14th place, respectively.
 
Senior thrower Martin Knauer also recorded an automatic qualifying mark with a toss of 18.49-meters (60-8) in the shot put. The mark was also a new school record and Knauer took first place in the event. Knauer also took second place in the discus throw with a provisional mark of 51.28-meters (168-3).
 
Finally, Walliker recorded a provisional mark in the high jump taking fourth place with a jump of 1.69-meters (5-6.5).

Queens' distance runners competed at Lee as Seb Anthony took first place in the 800-meter run in 1:48.75. His time was an automatic qualifying time and it moved the runner up to third in the nation in the event. Adam Wright also ran taking seventh place in the event in 1:49.89. His provisional qualifying time ranks 11th nationally. 

For the women, Stevie Lawrence-Wrist and Anna Janke recorded provisional times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Lawrence-Wrist clocked a time of 10:26.88 which ranks fifth nationally and Janke finished with a time of 10:55.96 to rank 29th. The pair completed the race in second and 10th place, respectively. 
 
The 2021 DII Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Selection Show is scheduled to take place on May 18 at 6 p.m. It will be aired on www.ncaa.com.
