CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team (14-3-1, 9-1-1) will travel to Matthews, N.C., to take on third-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne University (11-4-2, 8-3) for the second time this year as the two teams will clash in the semifinal round of the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Friday, Nov. 12 at the Matthews Sportsplex.
Tomorrow's meetup will be the 21
st between the Royals and the Bears. Lenoir-Rhyne leads the series 11-7-2, after handing the Royals their only conference loss this season.
Queens enters the match having defeated LMU, 1-0, on Saturday, Nov. 6 while the Bears defeated Limestone University, 2-0, in the quarterfinals.
Six Royals were named to the SAC All-Conference teams this week with
Karen Juarez and
Erica Turner earning spots on the first-team.
Nia Gaither was recognized on the second team while
Mia Manuel,
Jada Palmer, and
Megan Eastep were acknowledged on the third-team. Turner tops the nation in shutouts with 12 so far this season, a career-high and new Queens program record.
Queens is led by Manuel who has 12 points this season on six goals.
Alyssa Edwards follows with 11 points on four goals and three assists. The two have a combined total of six game winners with Edwards leading the Royals with four.
Seven Bears were named to the All-Conference teams with Ria Acton and Vivien Becker Peralta earning first-team honors. On the second team was freshman Leonie Proessl while LR had four players on the third team.
Proessl led the Bears and is tied for second in the SAC in goals with 11. Her 23 points rank second for the Bears who are led by Acton's 24 points on nine goals and six assists.
