Charlotte, NC - The Queens University of Charlotte men's wrestling team (5-8; 3-3 SAC/CC) dropped out of regular season conference championship consideration losing to no. 13 Newberry (4-3; 4-1 SAC/CC) 39-11.
Undermanned due to injury, Queens was forced to forfeit two matches to Newberry. Despite the circumstances, the Royals remained competitive winning two of the first three matches. Junior
Melvin Rubio (125 lb) put Queens on the board first with a dominant 15-0 victory. Junior
Devinaire Hayes (141) followed with an impressive win by fall.
The nationally ranked Wolves won the final seven matches cruising to a comfortable 39-11 team victory.
Queens is back at home at the Levine Center to take on Limestone in its final regular season conference matchup February 11th at 7 p.m.
