Queens Sweeps BMC Weekly Awards Once Again

HICKORY, N.C. – For the second time this season, the Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's swimming programs have swept the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Swimmers of the Week awards. Junior Alen Mosic and freshman Yuliia Stadnyk were named honorees of the weekly award on Tuesday morning.
 
Mosic won two individual events and was a member of one relay win during the week. The Split, Croatia native began the weekend with a first-place finish in the 200-Yard Medley Relay against Catawba as well as taking the top spot in the 100-Yard Backstroke. Mosic also won the 100-Yard Backstroke against Duke University with a Division II B cut time of 49.22.
 
Stadnyk won three events across two dual meets last week, including a victory in the 200-Yard Butterfly against Duke with a career-best and D2 B standard time of 2:00.09. In a dual meet triumph over Catawba, the Kyiv, Ukraine won both the 200-Yard and 500-Yard Freestyle races.
 
"It is great to see Yuliia and Alen recognized for the first time," said Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Planning and Leadership Development/ Director of Swimming Operations Jeff Dugdale. "Both have had incredible journeys that have brought them to this point and time. We can't wait to see the fruits of their labor."
 
The Royals return to the pool on January 24-25 in Columbia, S.C. at the South Carolina College Invitational.
