CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte women's rugby team (4-0) won its family weekend match Saturday morning, defeating Coastal Carolina University, 60-5 on Dickson Field at the Queens Sports Complex.

Senior
Antares Lance, who leads the squad in tries scored this season with 12 total, led the Royals in the win with three tries. Six more Royals each scored one try, including
MiKayla Tatum,
Angelica Rodriguez,
Megan Reed,
Bella Alanis,
Hailey Thomas, and
Sarah Ryan.

Additionally, Queens saw four successful conversions and one penalty kick from freshman
Alle English, who leads the team with 15 total, and
Abby Tobias also chipped in two conversions of her own.

Lance was the first to score for the Royals just eight minutes into play and was followed by a 30-yard penalty kick from English to make the score 8-0 on the Chanticleers.

Junior Tatum and Lance would each score a try next while English tallied two more conversions to increase Queens' lead to 22 (22-0).

Two minutes later, Rodriguez added another try and English another conversion to make the half time score 29-0.

Starting off the second half of play was Lance who recorded her third try of the day quickly to start the half, and Tobias kicked her first conversion of the match to make the score 36-0.

Reed and Alanis would each score a try for the Royals while Tobias added another conversion before CCU added a try to the board at the 16-minute mark (48-5).

The Royals would answer back with another two tries from Thomas and Ryan, and another English conversion to make the final score 60-5.

The squad travels to Emmitsburg, Maryland next to compete against NIRA opponent and defending champions, American International College Saturday, October 5. Play will begin at 11 a.m.
